New Erah

New Erah is an afro fusion music group based in Nairobi, Kenya and came to life in 2009 while still in the same high school. A strong friendship led to discovery of mutual passion for music through which they ended up being mentored and natured by their producer Kennedy Kanyeria who is known for a couple of hit songs in the country since way back. They are very talented and therefore they have drawn attention and love from every ear that listens to them. The trios members are Festus Mwendwa (Marcis), Tonny Munga (Swahili) and Benjamin Kioko (Benjy).

3. Benjy – Rapper, singer and songwriter.

Fresh and young new musical group in town New Erah, the new sensation and buzzing trio in town is hitting the road with a new single dubbed “No Games”. This is their first solo single out now but it has already proven to be explosive! The single has been performed and well received at social places that include Igiza Lounge, at Shrap Nite event on December 16, 2017, NYE Ngong racecourse and SAFU events on December 31, 2017.

New Erah is rising to prominence following the release of their first single…”No Games” which gained radio air play having being introduced by Radio host Adelle Onyango on Kiss FM.
“No games” released on new year of 2018 was a stepping stone in building and growing the fan base both online and in the streets of Nairobi.
The group released the “No Games” video early March and the visuals are already gaining some positive online feedback.

“No Games” is aimed at encouraging growth in relationships. It’s more of a promise to one’s partner that their relationship is not a game hence “No Games”. Of course no one wants their time and efforts wasted.
The track is a fusion of afro pop, rap and dance that provides a simple tone with a mature new-age feel. New Erah and Jack on The Beat composed it. The song was mixed and mastered by Jack on The Beat. And the video was directed by Kevin Bosco Jnr.

Trap a la Violence

How we got down to shooting the video

SUPREMO, $.N.H KINGSLEY and YUNGGENESIS are coming up in the trap game and decided to shoot a video with my help because they wanted to reach a larger audience with their clip. I thought what a cool idea and so I went to Biel with them to shoot some footage. We filmed from 10:00 to 9:00 in Biel because of the nice weather forecast but also in Berne. We even managed to fill our 16GB SD card by the time we finished filming the video.

Cutting the video

The next day we loaded all 16 GB on to my computer to arrange the film. It took a while at first but I got the hang of it quite quick. I did all the cutting in Adobe Premiere Pro and it did take me quite some time at first to get all the clips layed out. Some pieces i even had to import in to photoshop to get that red overlay effect. It took about 3 weeks to cut everything in to place because my school schedule was tight. In the end I was satisfied with my first ever music video turning out the way it did.

Uploading the video

It was crazy how much support we got when we uploaded our video on April the 1st at midnight. Alone in the first hour 260 people clicked our clip which was crazy for me to even think of at that time. Right now while im writing this our 2 uploads combined have more than 2800 views and the channel they’re on has 80 Subscribers. I wonder how many Subscribers the channel has now.
